What happened during Eleven?

A tropical depression formed from a tropical wave in the central tropical Atlantic on 21 September 2018 at 1800 UTC about 12.9°N, 52.5°W, well east of the Lesser Antilles. The system moved generally west to west‑northwest and remained small and short‑lived. Strong upper‑level westerly wind shear removed the convection from the low‑level center, and the circulation opened up and dissipated by 0000 UTC 23 September (about 300 nautical miles east of the Lesser Antilles).

There were no landfalls associated with this system; it remained over open water throughout its lifetime and dissipated before approaching the Lesser Antilles.

The depression’s peak analyzed intensity was 30 kt (35 mph) with a minimum central pressure of 1007 mb, consistent with a tropical depression (it never reached tropical storm strength). Best‑track data show winds of 30 kt at 1800 UTC 21 September and at 0000 UTC 22 September, with a minimum pressure of 1007 mb at 0000 UTC 22 September.

No storm surge or significant rainfall impacts were reported for populated locations. The official report lists no measurements of notable surge or heavy rainfall associated with the depression, and no reports of damage in any cities or counties.

There were no reported fatalities or injuries—no direct or indirect deaths were reported—and no damage was recorded. The system was difficult to forecast: its genesis was given a low chance of formation in the Tropical Weather Outlooks until shortly before formation, and the short life limited forecast verification to two 12‑hour forecasts (average track error 29.2 n mi, average intensity error 5.0 kt).

County-specific summary Paid feature

Paid members can generate summaries tailored to the counties of their choice. The Eleven TCR covers impacts across many counties and states — a Pinellas County resident doesn't need the Asheville detail, and a Buncombe County resident doesn't need the Tampa surge data.
