Chances in percent. Each column runs to the time under its hour (UTC). 34 kt = 39 mph (63 km/h), 50 kt = 58 mph (93 km/h), 64 kt = 74 mph (119 km/h).
How to read these numbers
- Each number is a running total: the chance that such winds occur at that place at some point between Fri Nov 6, 18:00 UTC and the time at the top of its column. That is why a row never goes down from left to right.
- For example, the 6 in the 120 h column for 10N 160W means a 6% chance of sustained winds of at least 39 mph (34 kt) there at some point between Fri Nov 6, 18:00 UTC and Wed Nov 11, 18:00 UTC.
- Where the CPHC table shows X, the chance is below 1%; it appears here as <1.
- The table covers only CPHC's selected places: towns, islands and points at sea named by latitude and longitude. For example, 10N 160W is 10° north, 160° west.
- CPHC shows a 34-kt or 50-kt row when that row's five-day chance is at least 3%, and all three rows once the five-day chance of 64-kt winds reaches 1%. So a missing row means a lower chance, and a place that is missing had lower chances or is not one of the selected places.
